Mike Berard - Lead Spotter
|
Some people were just born to race. Competitive in nature but smart enough to look at the big picture. Dedicated enough to dive in and take responsibility for things they can do, understanding of what they cannot and not afraid to say so. ALWAYS trying to find ways to improve the team as a whole versus looking for the personal gain. Mike Berard, the lead spotter for Becca Webster personifies the ultimate teammate! Mike began competing in 2002 in the CalRocs Stock Modified class and spotted for a number of drivers as well as driving in competition himself. His earliest big success was as spotter for Cody Waggonner where they ran an entire series undefeated, possibly the first time that had been done in any class of a major rockcrawling series. In 2004, Becca's spotter Frank Johnson was injured in a rockclimbing accident so we needed a fill-in. Mike joined Becca as her temporary spotter for the Vernal, Utah UROC and at that point, we knew Mike was an amazing asset. |

Just two months later, Dustin needed a spotter for SuperCrawl III and Mike happily joined him in a run for the world title. Things went VERY well for the team and even with a major mechanical breakdown, the team finished a respectable 10th. |

With that solid finish, Becca and Dustin asked Mike to join the team for 2005...unfortunately, Mike had already been accepted to the Arnold Swartzenegger's TERMINATOR Body Double School and had to turn the Websters' offer down. |

Actually, Mike had just accepted the offer from Cody Waggonner to sport for his Unlimited team and obviously, that turned out to be a great choice considering their amazing season run! In 2007, Mike, who hails from Oakley, CA, took the year off to spend time with his wife, Amy, and two young children Makenzie and Carson. In 2008, Mike returned to spot for Becca and with a consistent series performance, they took 6th place in the W.E.ROCK Western Pro National Series in the largest class of competition, Pro Modified. |
